Readers are leaders was a great event. This event was held at Curtis Culwell center. It was like a book fair, we were given free book coupon, so by using that, we could buy books up to $45. This event was from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
There were three sections, first was the hall in which they had all kind of books, the second one was a room, in which a lady was reading books for kids, and last but not the least their was a food counter. As i reached there I saw some volunteers but, soon the volunteers were there. We were given an id card. People started to arrive and soon enough the place was full with people. We were helping and directing people. helping them knowing what they could do or where they need to go to get books and so on.
I reached there at 5:10 pm. I saw some of my friends and volunteers when I reached there. So, I went over there and I got my card then when the people started to arrive we were approaching them and checking if they need any help after a while I went inside to get the books I want. After that I was helping ms Jenn collecting extra tickets, for the draw. It was a very fun night. I really enjoyed over there, and hope to go to this event again.
School lunch hero is a project by which we got to thanks our school cafeteria people, for helping us, providing us lunch,and working so hard for us.
My classmates were so hardworking during the whole project. Our class decided to give a t-shirt to the cafeteria people, we cutted out some designs, and started spraying paint on the t-shirt. The t-shirts had some pictures related to food, and we also sprayed school lunch hero on it. We also created a poster for school lunch hero.
I was helping my classmates making the poster. I really like the idea of this project. By doing this project our class got to thanks the cafeteria people, and I enjoyed doing this project.
College clique is a project by leadership class that will help students to choose or to decide which college they can go or they want to go. For college clique's project we made a word template and we wrote about different colleges. Each student has a different college.
My classmates were so hardworking and energetic, most of the people finished there college clique's very soon. The information that we wrote was like what is the name of the college, where is this college, what is the school mascot, what is the cost to join this college, what does the campus looks like, what are the are the things that they do at the college, how many students are there at the college, and some other extra info. We also posted the picture of the college, the campus and some other pictures, to give the students a view of how does the college and its campus looks like.
For me I got the University of Texas at Austin, this university is the best university in this whole country or the world. When I was doing my template for this university I got to know that this university has two radio stations one is called KUT which provides news and information, and KUTX for music.
Digital carnival was on 19 January. It was like a gadget exhibition. Schools from the district were presenting some gadgets. i was a volunteer over there.
We had to go to the Curtis Culwell Center. I was the first one to reach there among all my friends and I started to look for our group's table, but I couldn't find it . Then I saw my friends coming , I went to them and we got ready for the the volunteering. This was my first time doing volunteering activity. People started arriving and we were told to tell them to get registered, and if they want the book then we gave it to them and tell them to go inside to see the gadgets and stuff. I didn't knew what to do, so I just looked at my friend, that how he was going to people and telling them what to do or where to go and after seeing that, I started to go to people who needed help or who were confused with something.
Our school was representing about blogs, like what blogs are, how do we make a blog, what are the advantages of having a blog,what are our blogs about, etc. At first there were only few people coming, so i thought that this is going to be easy but then many people started to arrive and in only some time the place was full with people and many people where standing in the line. It was a great night, I really enjoyed a lot over there.
National Counseling week was a very nice project. In this project we made a card which had origami box attached on it, and that box was filled with chocolates. and each card had the name of the counselor. by doing this project we got the chance to thank all the counselors for helping us and supporting us.
Our class was so energetic doing this project. We made the boxes first and every person had to make 2 or 3 boxes. Then before the day we had to give the cards to our counselors, we made a list that which person has which counselor, so that we can make a group and that group can give the card to their counselor.
I really like this project. i made 3 boxes and i helped in putting the candies in the boxes. This project was so fun, and mostly by doing this project we got the chance to thank all the counselors for helping us and supporting us.
We went to the Brookdale Senior Living trip on February 16 from our leaderships class. We went there to give the elderly people gifts for Christmas, and we also did presentations for them and we played with them.
When our teacher explained the project that we are going to do and then she asked for volunteers, me and my friend volunteered. We started thinking for the ideas and then my friend came up a very nice idea, we thought to play lottery with the old people. The prizes were hoodie and a pair of socks for the third place, for the second place we bought a quilt, and for the first place we decided to give a teddy bear and a basket of fruits.we also made origami flower for the elderly people. The whole class was so supporting and hardworking during the whole project.
I really liked this project. It is a really beautiful place. We went there and we went to a room and we were waiting for the old people to come, we were in pairs one person where, one person who is a strong English speaker and another who is a strong Spanish speaker. When the olderly people came we started to approach them, and we started talking to them, we also explained the game to the while we were talking to them. then after sometime we started playing the lottery. The lady i was talking to won the second prize, she told me she really liked the gift. I like helping people and i don't like to see people sad, by visiting the brookdale senior living i got the chance to make old people happy. They really liked that we went there and did something for them.
This was my favorite project. In this project we made cards, on that cards it had a jar full of hearts. And also chocolates attached aside.
We distributed the work, each group member had to do 5 cards. We had 5 groups in our class, 4 groups were doing cards and the other group was making the hearts for the cards. We had a fun time doing this project. After that we started attaching the hearts to the cards. And then before the day we had to give the cards to the teachers we attached chocolates to every card.
It was a very fun project. I really liked it. At the day before we had to give cards to all the staff, we find out that we still need 30 more cards, then me and my friends made that cards in time. Then we went to give the cards to the staff.By doing this project we got the chance to thanks our teachers and staff for helping us in school and always being there for us.
